Because of you, we reached our second stretch goal of improving the box even more! We're also very close to hitting our next stretch goal of upgrading the cardboard tray to plastic. I encourage all of you to share this kickstarter on your social media pages. We have less than 24 hours left, so let's go out with a bang!

Unlocked Stetch Goal, Game Play Video, and Cards We Love - HEALING & PREVENTION!

Nice job everyone!

We unlocked our first stretch goal. Foil stamping/spot UV refers to a glossy varnish that will be applied to the game box. It basically makes it look cooler!

Queen Promotion Token:

I'm also going to throw into the game a "Queen Promotion Token". How this works: When your pawn reaches the other side of the board, it gains the movement of the queen. It still remains a pawn, and maintains all its stats and abilities, but now moves like a queen. I'll be posting pics of what this will look like in a future update.

Eternal Kings - Play through with Review

I recently dropped off a prototype copy of Eternal Kings at a FLGS in San Diego called "At Ease Games". I met with Hadrian, who was super friendly, and showed him how to play. Little did I know, they were going to make this super fun video! Hadrian and SoCal Viking, you guys ROCK!!

Cards We Love - Healing & Prevention

In our previous update of "Cards We Love", I talked about Chris Caldwell's favorite types of cards, TRAPS! But now it's time to talk about my favorite types of cards: Healing & Prevention.

In Eternal Kings, every creature has an attack and life total. In order for an attacking creature kill an opponent's creature, it must deal enough damage. This is usually the case, except if an opponent has a way to prevent damage or increase its life. Let's go over some of these types of cards that can do this:

Stone Guardian:

The Stone Guardian is a restricted pawn that can increase its health by 1 for the remainder of the turn. It can doing this on an opponent's turn since its ability is redcast, written in red. Most creatures in the game deal 5 damage, so increasing the Stone Guardian's health to 6 will usually save it from dying on that turn.

War Priest:

The War Priest, a staple in the realm of Wisdom, is a powerful knight that can prevent 2 damage done to an ally piece that is within a range of one. They can also prevent damage to themselves. Get two of these bad boys next to each other, and they can prevent up to 4 damage to either of the 2 War Priests!

Shrouded Keeper:

This Wisdom bishop is the ultimate protector! His ability prevents an opponent from attacking one of your pieces on their next turn.

Abyssal Ruins:

Abyssal Ruins is a structure that is placed onto a space on the board (below the creature casting it). At any time, its controller can use it to increase the health of each piece in the same row as Abyssal Ruins by 1. A well placed Abyssal Ruins can prevent a creature from dying.

New ADD-ONS and Updated Stretch Goals

I would like to personally thank each and every one of you that has come together and helped Eternal Kings come to life. Without YOU, this game could not exist. THIS is what Kickstarter is all about!

We're almost there! In these last 6 days, I'd like to ask each and every one of you to try and find ONE person to pledge. If we all did this, we would easily fund. We got this!

New ADD-ONS:

I've added new add-ons as an option. This was recommended by many backers, and I myself think it's a good idea. It didn't seem that we were going to hit these stretch goals, so instead, I'm giving you all the option to buy the expansion instead. It also helps fund our goal of $20,000. Here are the add-ons:

We're playing a game LIVE!

Hey everyone, quick update here. The team and I will be going LIVEon February 16th at 8:30pm PST. This is West Coast US time. We will be playing a full unscripted game of Eternal Kings. During this time, we will be answering any questions that you might have. We also expect to do this on Sunday morning as well. Stay tuned!

Now let me introduce part of the team that will be playing live:

Chris Caldwell:

.

Chris, better known as "CJ", is our chess expert. Cj owns and operates an after school chess program that teaches kids how to play and excel in the game of chess. He has been a part of the development team since the beginning. In order for a card to pass as a playable and unbroken to the great game of chess, it has to get through CJ first!

Jeff Lin:

.

Jeff Lin started working with us at a crucial time during the creation process. We needed to build the lore of the game, and he helped us do just that. He fine tuned the thematic elements, transforming this game into a vibrant world with a richer story line. He has also contributed to the card creation and testing process, and has been with us at multiple conventions, running demos and teaching people how to play.

Kevin Barber:

.

Kevin has been play-testing with us for almost two years now. He has been the gaming encyclopedia of the group, having played easily more than 1000 board games in his lifetime. His vast gaming knowledge has been very helpful in balancing game mechanics and creating new cards. His biggest contribution in the creation process were the "mercenary" cards, which are currently up as stretch goals. These versatile mercenaries are capable of using ANY ability card, since they can gain any of the four disciplines.
